Amazon just dropped a host of new Kindle gear, but forget the fancy metallic colors – the real star is the $35 Kindle Click, a Bluetooth page-turner that's surprisingly brilliant.
While many were distracted by the fresh colors and new Kindle models, the true gem is this affordable accessory. It's Amazon's first official Bluetooth page turner, designed to sync with the latest Kindle generations from 2024 and 2026. This nifty gadget tackles the clunky, screen-blocking designs of third-party alternatives, offering a streamlined solution for a slightly higher price point but with significantly better functionality.
The Kindle Click is a lightweight, handheld remote that connects wirelessly to your Kindle. It lets you not only turn pages with two large front buttons but also scroll and even adjust screen brightness with smaller buttons on the side. The brightness control is a surprisingly useful bonus for such a budget-friendly item. It charges via USB-C and comes with a wrist strap, preventing accidental drops.
Navigating the buttons might take a moment to get used to, with the higher button scrolling down and the lower one scrolling up. However, beyond the slight learning curve, it's a fantastic accessibility tool for anyone who struggles to hold their Kindle or tap the screen regularly. It's particularly great for those with wrist issues or anyone who simply wants more comfort while reading. For the best experience, pairing it with a Kindle holder is recommended.
This Click device is a massive upgrade from clunky aftermarket options that often required separate clips, two charging cables, and batteries that died quickly. Amazon claims the Click's battery lasts "weeks," and given its larger build compared to flimsy third-party remotes, that claim seems highly plausible. While a new Kindle page-turn cover is available for $80, it requires pricier Signature Edition Kindles, pushing the total cost well over $300, making the $35 Click a far more sensible purchase.
The Kindle Click works with any Kindle from 2024 onward. If you're rocking an older model, it might be time to consider an upgrade, especially with potential Black Friday deals on the 2024 version. Whether for yourself or a bookworm gift, the Kindle Click is a practical and budget-friendly gadget that’s already proving popular, so snag yours sooner rather than later if you want it for the holidays.
