Saudi Arabia's Civil Defence announced on Sunday that alerts have been lifted across several areas of the Eastern Province, including Dhahran, Dammam, Abqaiq, and the Al-Ahsa governorate, following an earlier warning of potential danger.
Dhahran, a key city in the kingdom's oil-rich Eastern Province, is home to the headquarters of the state-owned oil giant Saudi Aramco. The Eastern Province is vital as it holds the majority of Saudi Arabia's oil and gas reserves.
The announcement came shortly after the lifting of alerts. Earlier in October, Saudi Aramco's headquarters had sustained significant damage in a separate attack. This region has been a focus of security concerns.
The Saudi-led coalition operating in Yemen reported that it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group, which is allied with Iran, targeting the Eastern region. The Houthis have previously launched ballistic missiles and drones aimed at Saudi airports, ports, and oil facilities.
