Sources close to the Swaid and Sons Exchange Company revealed that the businessman, Muhammad Lutf Swaid, the owner of the company, fled the capital, Sana'a, and the United States announced restrictions on his company supporting the Houthis.
The sources said that the businessman, Muhammad Lutf, fled to an Arab country and then headed to the Dominican Republic, to evade US sanctions, and from any Houthi reaction that may reach the point of assassinating him and working to establish a fake company parallel to the Swaid and Sons to circumvent US sanctions.
On Thursday, the United States included the Swaid and Sons among the sanctions imposed on entities linked to Iran, and because it facilitated millions of dollars in transactions for the benefit of the Houthis, within a network that collects tens of millions of dollars for the Houthis from sales of goods, including Iranian oil.
