Yemen's Mayoun condemns the continued detention of two professors by Houthis

Academic sources in Ibb governorate reported that the Houthi security and intelligence agency continued to detain two Ibb University professors, on the grounds of their publication on social media.

Yemen's Mayoun Organization (MHRD) condemned the arrest of Dr. Bilal Al Maytami (detained since August 10, 2021) and Dr. Jalal Al Madhaji (detained since July 30, 2021) and called on the de facto authorities in Ibb governorate to immediate and unconditional release of the two university professors and all prisoners of opinion.

MHRD called on the Houthi group to pay the salaries of academics in government universities located in its areas of control, instead of silencing the mouths of those demanding salaries that they have not received for years.

MHRD called on the parties to the conflict in Yemen to the need to respect the constitution, the law in force in the country and international law, which affirm that freedom of opinion is guaranteed to all.
