Informed sources said that the Iran-backed Houthis kidnap a staff member working at the US embassy in Yemen's Sana'a last day, with increasing international condemnation of the group's storming of the US embassy and the kidnapping of more than 21 other employees during the past days.
Houthi members raided the house of Abdul Hamid Nuri Al-Ajmi in Sana'a, took him to an unknown location, in addition to confiscating his laptops, phones and other belongings believed to belong to the US embassy.
On Friday, November 6, the militia kidnapped three employees of the American embassy in Sana’a, after about three weeks ago it kidnapped 22 others, most of whom work as part of the security staff that remained guarding the embassy building.
On Wednesday, November 10, the United States called on the Houthis to immediately release all its employees unharmed and to end any harassment to them.
The US embassy in Yemen was closed in 2015 after the Houthis seized the capital, but some local employees continue working from home or as security guards for buildings.
