Local sources said that the Islah Party in Yemen's Shabwa embezzled $2 million from the governorate's emergency account after transferring it to the fictitious development account under their disposal.
The Islah Party militias withdrew this amount directly, based on the directives of the director of governor Ben Adyo’s office, and on a form of disbursement from the finance office, which does not bear any signatures by the competent authorities or the stamp of the local authority. The sources added.
The sources said that the amount was taken from the branch of the Central Bank of Yemen and was transferred to an unknown destination.
It is expected that these moves will be made with the knowledge of the governor who is currently in Jordan, after he received assurances that the decision to dismiss him had been signed by the Yemeni President.
