In an official statement, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disclosed that a woman, who holds Russian and Israeli Occupation citizenships, was kidnapped in Iraq by a pro-Iranian armed group.

The statement, released on Wednesday, revealed that Elizabeth Tsurkov, a researcher with deep knowledge of the Levant, has been "missing for several months in Iraq" and is currently being "held captive by Shiite militias."

It further emphasized that Tsurkov is still alive, while expressing the belief that Iraq bears responsibility for ensuring her well-being and safe release.
