Israel-Hamas war: Death toll reaches 2,500, including 27 U.S. citizens

At least 27 Americans have been killed in Israel since Hamas launched its assault last weekend, National Security Council spokesperson Jon Kirby said on Thursday.

Another 14 U.S. citizens remain missing, he added.

The U.S. government previously said it’s working to repatriate any U.S. citizens who want to leave Israel.

At least 2,500 people in Israel and Gaza have been killed, with thousands of others injured, since Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Saturday, prompting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to declare war and form an emergency government and wartime Cabinet.
