 Pentagon reports 55 attacks on US forces in Iraq, Syria since October 17

The Pentagon is seeing an increase in attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria with a total of 55 attacks injuring dozens of service members since October 17, 2023, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said.

The attacks, comprising of 27 incidents in Iraq and 28 in Syria, resulted in injuries to 59 service members. However, Singh assured reporters that all affected personnel have successfully returned to duty.


Amid the concerning surge in attacks, Singh added that the US feels deterrence is working against Iran and the militias it supports in the Middle East.

The Pentagon has not provided specific details about the nature of the attacks or the groups responsible, but have said authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
