Meta's AI Can Now Use Your Insta Pics – Opt Out Now!

Meta just dropped a new AI image tool called Muse Image, and it’s deeply integrated into Instagram, meaning your public photos could be used to generate AI art featuring you – unless you actively opt out.

This new feature allows users to tag public Instagram profiles in AI prompts, enabling Meta's AI to generate images using a person's likeness. Meta is spinning this as a cool way to create personalized visuals, like custom invitations or collaborative concepts, by tagging usernames and letting Meta AI build a unique image.

If you're not keen on your face popping up in AI-generated art without your explicit permission, you'll need to dive into your Instagram settings. Head to your profile, tap the three lines in the top-right corner, and navigate to the 'Sharing and reuse' tab. Look for a toggle labeled 'Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with AI features on Meta' and make sure both 'Posts' and 'Reels' are switched off.

It's worth noting that even if you change your settings now, any AI-generated images already created using your content won't be deleted. Plus, Instagram users can remix your images with AI without you ever knowing – you won't receive any notifications about this.

While it's becoming a common trend for companies to make users opt out of AI training by default, this Instagram feature is a prime example. If you want to keep your likeness out of future AI creations, switching off this toggle is a must-do, like, yesterday.
