Liverpool Midfielder Curtis Jones Set for Inter Milan Transfer

Liverpool is reportedly finalizing a €35 million (£30 million) deal to sell midfielder Curtis Jones to Serie A champions Inter Milan, with the player expected to travel to Italy on Thursday for a medical.

Jones, a product of Liverpool's academy and a player who has spent his entire 16-year career with the club, is entering the final year of his contract. With no new agreement in place, Liverpool has opted to cash in now rather than risk losing the 25-year-old England international for free next summer.

The transfer fee, agreed upon after protracted negotiations, is understood to be around €35 million. Inter had previously seen a €25 million offer rejected earlier in the summer. Jones has made over 200 senior appearances for Liverpool but has never fully cemented a starting role in a competitive midfield.

While the move signifies the end of a long association for Jones, it's seen as a sensible financial decision for Liverpool, securing a significant fee for a homegrown player. For Jones, a move to Inter could offer a more prominent role than he might have anticipated at Liverpool, where competition remains fierce.

Liverpool is not currently planning to sign a direct replacement for Jones, with speculation suggesting that youngster Trey Nyoni might be given more opportunities. The club's immediate focus appears to be on strengthening their attack, with PSG winger Bradley Barcola reportedly a target.
