Chelsea striker João Félix has expressed frustration with his teammates' performance after another dropped opportunity, emphasizing the urgent need for the team to adapt and improve in the Premier League.
Despite a new manager and a host of new signings, Chelsea's persistent issues, particularly defensive fragility and mental lapses, continue to plague the squad. While the team possesses attacking prowess and can deliver moments of brilliance, they remain susceptible to conceding goals and losing focus.
Saturday's match against Hull City, where Chelsea surrendered a lead, exemplified these ongoing problems. Félix lamented the team's inability to close out the game, stating, "We have to adapt quickly, as soon as possible, because we know how the Premier League is. If you drop points, in the end, it will be difficult to recover."
Reflecting on the "tough game," Félix acknowledged the opponent's defensive strategy but underscored the team's own shortcomings. "We knew if they got in front they were going to sit at the back and wait for us to come and play for the counter-attack," he said, adding, "In the end, we could get one point, but like I said, we need to improve and I think we’re going to improve soon."
The situation is particularly galling for Félix, who has been a standout performer, recently earning the Premier League Player of the Month award for August and scoring again on Saturday. His individual efforts highlight the gap between his level and that of his teammates, a disparity that Félix believes must be addressed for Chelsea to genuinely compete at the top of the league.
