Yemen Presidential Council Launches Military Operations to Reclaim Territory

Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council has announced the commencement of military operations aimed at regaining control of remaining Yemeni territories and extending state authority nationwide, signaling the end of a preparatory phase after exhausting all de-escalation opportunities.

Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi issued directives to the armed forces, security agencies, and military formations to initiate their missions according to approved plans. He accused the Houthi militia of responding to peace efforts with intensified mobilization and escalation, posing threats to civilians, national infrastructure, and international shipping lanes.

Al-Alimi emphasized that the military operations are not targeting populations or regions based on sectarian or tribal affiliations. Instead, their objective is to restore state institutions and end the imposition of a fait accompli through force of arms. He urged civilians to stay clear of military sites and supply routes.

He underscored the forces' commitment to protecting civilians and property, concurrent with a government plan to reinstate essential services, disburse employee salaries, and launch recovery and reconstruction programs in areas liberated by the state. The Presidential Council chairman declared a full state of alert for the nation's military, security, and civilian institutions, reiterating that the ultimate goal is to bring territories, institutions, and weaponry back under the rule of law.
