Bayern Munich Confirms "Very Good Talks" with Harry Kane on New Contract

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl has revealed that contract negotiations with star striker Harry Kane are progressing positively, fueling hopes of a new deal for the England captain.

Kane has been an explosive addition to the Bayern squad since his 2023 move from Tottenham, netting an impressive 154 goals in just 156 appearances across all competitions. His stellar performance this season has even positioned him as a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or, highlighting his immense value to the German club.

While an official agreement hasn't been reached, Eberl expressed confidence in the direction of the talks. "The talks are going very well," he told Sky Germany. "There’s no commitment yet, there’s no ‘yes’ yet, but we’re having very, very good talks, and we’re all positive."

This sentiment echoes previous statements from fellow Bayern official Christoph Freund, who also indicated that negotiations were moving smoothly. "The talks are going well. We’re very positive, everyone knows we’re determined to extend his contract and Harry feels very comfortable here," Freund had stated.

If Kane signs an extension, it likely diminishes the chances of him returning to the Premier League to chase Alan Shearer's all-time scoring record. Kane currently sits 47 goals behind Shearer's 260 Premier League goals, and a new contract with Bayern would make a return to English football improbable, especially as he approaches the latter stages of his career.
