Los Angeles firefighters successfully rescued three individuals from fast-moving floodwaters in the Pacoima Wash on Thursday morning as severe storms brought heavy rainfall and significant runoff to the San Fernando Valley.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) deployed aerial resources, including a helicopter and an extendable ladder, to reach at least two of the victims trapped by the powerful currents. Fire crews confirmed that a potential fourth person initially reported in distress was located and found to be safe after a preliminary search.
The rescue operation commenced around 9 a.m. in the Pacoima Wash, near the intersection of Parthenia Street. The individuals rescued were two men and one woman. The region was under a flood advisory throughout Thursday morning as the storm continued to saturate the area.
According to the LAFD, at least two of the rescued individuals were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
