Saudi civil defense announced on Saturday the interception of two ballistic missiles launched by Iranian-backed Houthi militias from Yemen towards the regions of Makkah and Madinah. Fragments resulting from the interception fell in several locations.

The official spokesperson for the Civil Defense stated that parts of the intercepted missiles landed in Wadi Al-Maghmas in Makkah. Additionally, fragments from the interception scattered over the Al-Nuzha district in Jeddah Governorate, Wadi Jalil in Taif Governorate, and Mustawrah Center in Rabigh Governorate.

The statement confirmed that standard procedures for handling such incidents were implemented. No information regarding casualties or material damage was provided in the announcement.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan jointly condemned the ongoing Houthi attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and maritime vessels. The four nations warned of the repercussions of such escalation on regional security and the safety of maritime navigation.

The joint statement emphasized the critical importance of ensuring the freedom and safety of maritime navigation, rejecting any measures or restrictions that could impede the movement of ships. The statement further underscored that the disruption of maritime routes poses a threat to the security and prosperity of all, given their vital role in global trade and economy.
