Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Brighton & Hove Albion's rising star Luka Vuskovic as they scout for defensive talent ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.
The Reds are among the clubs keeping tabs on the young Croatian centre-back, according to Football Insider. Vuskovic, just 19, has already made a significant impression since his summer move to Brighton from Tottenham Hotspur, solidifying his spot as one of the Premier League's most exciting prospects. He's been a consistent starter in all eight league games this season, proving his crucial role for manager Fabian Hurzeler's squad.
Liverpool are said to admire Vuskovic as they map out their long-term defensive strategy. With questions surrounding Virgil van Dijk's future, the Croatian's calm demeanor, aerial prowess, and ball-playing skills could make him a prime target. However, they aren't the only ones interested; Real Madrid are also monitoring the youngster, adding another layer of competition.
Securing Vuskovic won't be easy, though. Brighton paid a club-record £46 million for him and tied him down with a five-year deal, plus an option for another season. Reports suggest Brighton value him at approximately £100 million and are currently unwilling to listen to offers, especially given his rapid development and impact.
While Liverpool might continue to track his progress, particularly if they prioritize a successor for Van Dijk, Brighton's strong stance makes any immediate transfer highly unlikely. With Real Madrid also in the mix, Vuskovic could become one of Europe's most in-demand young defenders by next summer.
