Tennis icon Rafael Nadal is set to join the Real Madrid board of directors, a move that deepens his lifelong connection with the Spanish football powerhouse. The 22-time Grand Slam champion confirmed the news on social media, expressing his excitement and willingness to contribute.

Club president Florentino Pérez and the board extended the invitation to Nadal, who has long been a devoted supporter and an honorary club member. Nadal announced the appointment, thanking Pérez and the club's leadership for the opportunity to join the leadership structure.

Nadal shared his enthusiasm, stating, "I want to thank President Florentino Pérez and the Board for proposing that I join the Board of Directors of Real Madrid. I have accepted this proposal with great excitement, a desire to learn, and with willingness to contribute everything I can."

Real Madrid welcomed the addition, calling it an immense honor to bring Nadal into their leadership. His renowned professionalism, resilience, and sporting excellence have already made him a prominent figure in Spanish sports. Despite his family's ties to Barcelona, Nadal has always championed Real Madrid, a loyalty formally recognized in 2011 with honorary membership.

This boardroom role marks a more formal involvement for Nadal, who has been a frequent presence at the Bernabéu and has reportedly offered informal advice on player transfers, such as his recommendation for Marco Asensio in 2014.

Nadal's move follows a trend of prominent athletes and celebrities taking stakes or leadership roles in football clubs, including LeBron James with Liverpool, Tom Brady with Birmingham City, Giannis Antetokounmpo with Nashville SC, and JJ Watt with Burnley FC.
