Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea are reportedly locking horns over the potential transfer of AC Milan's breakout star, Koni De Winter, this season. The young defender has been making waves in Serie A, attracting significant attention from Premier League scouts.
De Winter, who joined AC Milan last season, has emerged as a key player for the Italian club, showing considerable growth under manager Ruben Amorim, despite some earlier inconsistencies, particularly in the Europa League. The 24-year-old Belgian, understood to be content at Milan, is nonetheless expected to be a hot commodity in future transfer windows.
Beyond the traditional "big three," sources close to the player's agents reveal that scouts from Newcastle, Tottenham, Leeds United, and Brentford have also been actively monitoring De Winter's performances in recent matches. This widespread interest highlights his rapidly growing reputation.
"Koni De Winter is developing really well at Milan and there’s a lot of Premier League interest," a source commented. "He’s a versatile talent, but he’s now really making a name for himself as one of Milan’s three central defenders."
Both Manchester United and Chelsea are notably proactive in the defender market, having also scouted other emerging Serie A talents like Jacopo Furlan of Como. While a move for De Winter might not be an immediate priority, his impressive form suggests he will be high on the list of potential targets for strengthening squads in January and next summer.
However, De Winter might prioritize consistent game time, potentially making him receptive to offers from clubs like Newcastle or Leeds before considering a move to a top-six Premier League side.
