Small Plane Overturns at John Wayne Airport Amid High Winds

A small single-engine Cessna 172 aircraft overturned on the runway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County on Saturday afternoon, according to airport officials.

The incident occurred around 2:38 p.m. on the ACI jet ramp, with airport spokespersons attributing the overturn to high winds. The aircraft, registered as N57BM and belonging to Huerta Holdings Inc. of Santa Ana, had two occupants. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Airport officials confirmed that the response for safe recovery and investigation is currently underway. They also stated that the incident had no further impact on other airport operations. Initial ground control communications suggested that the Cessna might have been affected by the jet blast from a United Airlines flight, specifically a Boeing 737.

Representatives from United Airlines, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board have not yet provided immediate comment regarding the incident.

This marks the second aviation-related incident at John Wayne Airport in as many days. On Friday, a Southwest Airlines flight en route to San Jose experienced a general emergency shortly after takeoff due to reported engine issues, ultimately landing safely at Los Angeles International Airport.
