Jamie Redknapp is backing Arsenal to win the Premier League title, pointing to their six-point lead over Manchester City after recent results. Arsenal have dominated their opening 10 league games, while City's form has dipped with three consecutive defeats. Arsenal's latest 1-0 win against Hull City, sealed by Martin Odegaard, put them on 27 points, as City unexpectedly lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest.
Speaking after City's loss, Redknapp admitted on Sky Sports that he currently finds it hard to imagine any team stopping Arsenal. "I don’t really see anything else other than Arsenal running away with this title at the moment," he stated. "I know it’s really early but I just think they’re so much better than everyone else in every single area."
Surprisingly, Redknapp identified Brighton as Arsenal's most significant title threat, rather than traditional rivals like City, Liverpool, or Chelsea. "If you look at the league table, I think right now, probably the one you’d point to, and I never thought I’d say this at the start of the year, but it’s Brighton," he added. Brighton is currently third with 19 points and could leapfrog City with a win against Brentford.
Redknapp's confidence is well-founded. Arsenal has secured five league wins in a row and conceded only five goals in 10 matches. Meanwhile, City's three straight losses have resulted in a massive nine-point swing in Arsenal's favor. Former player Steven Gerrard also noted Arsenal's developing ability to win tough games in various ways, a key characteristic of championship teams.
However, it's still very early in November to call the title race over. Manchester City has a history of recovering from difficult spells, and Brighton's strong start will face tougher tests as the season progresses. Arsenal themselves will remember from past campaigns how quickly momentum can shift. The key difference this season might be Arsenal's growing ability to win even when not playing at their absolute best. If this resilience holds, Redknapp's prediction could prove remarkably accurate by spring.
