Newcastle United has secured a deal for Gençlerbirliği midfielder Ousmane Diabate, with the 18-year-old signing a 4+1 year contract.
The young Guinean defensive midfielder, born in September 2007, will initially remain on loan at his current club, Gençlerbirliği, for one year to continue his development. This loan agreement includes a mid-season recall clause and performance-based bonuses for Gençlerbirliği if Diabate features regularly.
Diabate, known for his physical presence and tactical nous, joined Gençlerbirliği in December 2025 after developing at Guinea's Académie SOAR. He quickly progressed through the U19 ranks and made eight senior appearances for the Turkish side.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, as he recently made his senior international debut for Guinea against Northern Ireland in June 2026. Diabate also impressed in Gençlerbirliği's opening league match this season, contributing to a 2-1 win over Fenerbahçe.
Despite interest from several European clubs, including Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, and Fenerbahçe, Newcastle United has successfully landed the promising talent on a long-term deal, adding significant depth to their midfield options.
