Senior Driver Kills One, Injures Four in Trader Joe's Parking Lot Crash

One person has died and four others sustained injuries after an elderly driver crashed her vehicle into a group of pedestrians in a Trader Joe's parking lot near The Grove on Thursday afternoon, authorities reported.


The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the incident at approximately 1:21 p.m. following reports of a vehicle striking a security stand in the parking area situated near the intersection of 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue. One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene, while four others were transported to local hospitals for medical attention.


According to the Los Angeles Police Department, which is leading the investigation into the collision, the driver of the vehicle is an unidentified woman in her 80s. Aerial footage captured by KTLA depicted Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics attending to the injured.


The scene showed a white canopy erected over the deceased individual, and a white sedan with significant front-end damage was observed to be lodged against a partially damaged structure. Firefighters were also seen assisting an elderly woman into a wheelchair.


Details regarding the identity of the person who died and the specific cause of the crash were not immediately released by authorities.
