Fu Cong, China's Ambassador to the UN, appealed to Council members to refrain from employing "double standards, political manipulation, pressure and confrontation." Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, criticized what he described as the "destructive path of our Western colleagues, determined purely by their economic interests in exerting pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran."
