UAE Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Affirms Solidarity

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the continued Houthi militia attacks targeting civilians, civilian objects, and economic assets within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as assaults on Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that these attacks constitute a violation of Saudi sovereignty and pose a threat to the Kingdom's security and stability. The ministry declared its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures aimed at protecting its security and stability.

In a synchronized European stance, the European Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs, Dubravka Šuica, denounced the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, affirming solidarity with the Kingdom. She emphasized that targeting civilians and vital infrastructure is unacceptable and called for de-escalation and respect for freedom of navigation, regional security, and stability.

These positions emerged following the announcement by the Joint Forces of the Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen that they had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards the northern outskirts of Riyadh, the Saudi capital. Major General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Coalition Forces, stated that the coalition's intelligence system tracked the missile launch platform in Sana'a's airspace, confirming that the platform would be a target for destruction.

The successive condemnations reflect the widespread regional and international rejection of Houthi attacks. These assaults not only impact Saudi territories but also extend to the security of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, adding a regional dimension to the ongoing escalation.
