Yemeni security forces in several liberated provinces are intensifying operations against dormant cells linked to the Houthi militia, announcing the apprehension of suspects in Taiz, Lahj, and Hadhramaut. These cells are accused of receiving funding and directives to carry out operations targeting military and security leaders and destabilize areas under the internationally recognized government's control.
The Ministry of Interior reported the arrest of two individuals in Taiz Governorate, stating they were working for the Houthi militia. Preliminary investigations, according to the ministry, revealed that the suspects received funding from Houthi supervisor Nour al-Din al-Marouni in the Houban area to execute operations aimed at military and security leaders and disrupt the city's security and stability.
Taiz police stated that the accused have been detained pending legal proceedings and referral to the competent authorities. The police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through official channels.
In Lahj Governorate, security forces in Tuban district apprehended several individuals suspected of affiliation with the militia following surveillance operations along the road connecting the Sabr and al-Wahat areas. Local sources indicated that the suspects were mingling with vendors and shopkeepers to avoid detection before searches led to the confiscation of personal weapons, documents, and visual materials allegedly indicating their ties to the Houthis.
In Hadhramaut, security forces conducted raids in the city of Seiyun targeting commercial establishments and the qat market, resulting in the arrest of individuals suspected of belonging to Houthi cells, according to local reports. The campaign was accompanied by a significant increase in security checkpoints and mobile patrols, with searches and pursuit operations targeting individuals suspected of harboring elements linked to the militia.
The commands of the First Military Region and the Second Brigade of the Shield of the Nation forces affirmed that these actions are part of a proactive security plan to enhance vigilance, prevent arms possession, protect civilians, and thwart any subversive attempts targeting the security of the Hadhramaut Valley and Desert.
