UAE security forces have dismantled an international criminal network comprising 20 individuals of various nationalities, intercepting a significant drug smuggling operation. The network, with members from Arab, African, Asian, and Gulf states, was apprehended attempting to introduce a substantial quantity of illicit substances into the country for distribution.

The National Anti-Narcotics Agency, in collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah General Command of Police and the Iraqi Ministry of Interior's Directorate General of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, successfully thwarted the trafficking of 200,000 Captagon pills and over 30 kilograms of other narcotics. This operation was conducted under judicial coordination with the Federal Public Prosecution, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The seized contraband included Captagon tablets, cocaine, crystal meth, marijuana, hashish, and Spice. The network had planned to import these substances through a border area in Ras Al Khaimah for subsequent distribution within the UAE.

The operation commenced following the exchange of intelligence between UAE and Iraqi authorities, which revealed the plot by the multi-national syndicate. Security forces developed a comprehensive strategy to pursue and apprehend the network members, leading to the arrest of several individuals in possession of the drugs during the smuggling attempt. The remaining suspects were apprehended within the UAE through meticulously planned security ambushes.

The National Anti-Narcotics Agency stated that this operation has dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking and smuggling networks. The success underscores the advanced capabilities of UAE security agencies in intelligence gathering, investigation, and tracking transnational criminal organizations, highlighting the efficacy of regional security and judicial cooperation.

The agency reiterated its commitment to pursuing all individuals involved in drug trafficking and trade. It also emphasized the crucial role of community partnership in combating this menace and protecting society from its dangers, urging the public to report any suspicious activities.
